Elise McGee Founder and Director of Homes Restore: Flourishing Foundations a community to support the homeless in Upstate SC

Elise McGee

Founder & Director

Relationships and community are essential for a fulfilling and prosperous life. This realization dawned on me during my 20+ years in sales and service within my community. Throughout this journey, I experienced a profound transformation in my heart and life, understanding that it is giving that truly enriches our existence.

My passion for helping others reach their fullest potential has always been strong, and God brought remarkable individuals into my life who connected me with the homeless population in Upstate SC. Drawing from my own life experiences, I understand that most of us are just one job loss, mental or physical health challenge, or family crisis away from facing homelessness.

Homelessness
The word conjures images, assumptions, and often misconceptions.

I started collaborating with remarkable local organizations dedicated to addressing the homelessness crisis in Upstate SC. Their collaborative spirit and sincere commitment to tackling the issues related to homelessness made them eager to welcome me into their community and support the mission God has made known to me.

Our Community Partners

We are blessed to partner with the following agencies, aligned under the

Upstate SC Continuum of Care helping the homeless community achieve a brighter future.

When we love everyone as God commands us, we truly see the people around us and desire to learn their story.

Beyond shelters and statistics, a story of resilience unfolds. Every individual experiencing homelessness carries a unique journey, filled with challenges and hope. To truly offer a solution, we must reach beyond bricks and mortar.

We are empowered to find creative solutions, build support networks, and advocate for systemic change. We acknowledge that to truly create abundant lives for all people we must move beyond temporary fixes and develop sustainable support systems.

That's why a diverse coalition of organizations in Upstate SC is coming together, driven by a shared vision of human dignity and community compassion. Through collaboration, we're creating a network of support: non-congregate housing in a community that will provide access to life-changing services and equipping individuals with the skills and resources they need to build sustainable futures. Together, we can replace hardship with hope and restore one life at a time.

  • Current solutions typically depend on government subsidies, often leaving individuals or families entangled in the public welfare system indefinitely.
  • Extensive research by the federal government and Continuum of Care highlights the importance of non-congregate housing solutions for long-term individual independence and success.
  • It is crucial not to overlook ancillary community and supportive services while individuals strive for a thriving and fulfilling future. Tailored programs will be developed in collaboration with the Upstate Continuum of Care for each individual or family, addressing their specific needs such as health and wellness, financial support, mental health counseling, job skills and training, transportation, legal assistance, and more.
